Noted automotive author and collector Colin Comer will serve as the Class Chair for the Muscle Car and GTO classes at the 2014 Milwaukee Masterpiece.
“We’re pleased to have Mr. Comer as Chair of these two special classes this year,” said Leon Flagg, chairman, The Milwaukee Masterpiece. “Colin’s expertise in the Muscle Car market and his stature in U.S. and international car-collecting circles is impressive. What’s more, his knowledge and enthusiasm for the GTO is well known and makes him an excellent choice to Chair the GTO Class.”
As Class Chair, Comer will work with the Concours Committee to define the Muscle Car and GTO classes as well as populate the classes with vehicles that meet The Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d’Elegance standards. In his role as Class Chair Comer already has begun to recruit a slate of qualified judges for the two classes.
To date, Comer has secured the following individuals to judge the Muscle Car and GTO classes:
- Erik Gustafson, former SAAC Concours Judge and Ford expert
- Mark Klos, master restorer/painter and expert on concours preparation of muscle cars
- Scott Tiemann, GTOAA Concours Judge and renowned GTO expert
- John Krewson, senior editor, Road & Track Magazine
Ron Pace, local car collector, race car driver and a director of The Masterpiece Ltd., will co-chair the GTO Class with Comer.
Comer’s extensive and wide range of knowledge has made him one of the foremost experts in the collector car hobby. Comer is the author of the best-selling and critically acclaimed books “Million-Dollar Muscle Cars,” “The Complete Book of Shelby,” “The All-American Muscle Car,” and “Shelby Cobra Fifty Years,” which was named the “Greatest Car Book Of All Time” by Esquire magazine.
Comer enjoys maintaining an impressive car collection of his own, as well as being an avid vintage racer and pilot. Besides being the founder or Colin’s Classic Automobiles in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Comer is also a contributing editor for Road & Track Magazine, Editor at Large for Sports Car Market and American Car Collector magazines, and a contributing editor to Hagerty Classic Cars magazine and the Hagerty Price Guide.
His work also has appeared in national media from the The New York Times to USA Today. In 2012 Autoweek named Comer as one of the automotive industry’s “Movers and Shakers” for his contributions to the collector car world.
In its 10th year, The Milwaukee Masterpiece will showcase 125 of the most significant vehicles from years past, as well as 125 new participants to Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance at The Milwaukee Masterpiece. “Each one is a work of automotive art,” Flagg said.
The Milwaukee Masterpiece presents two separate collections of collector vehicles over two days, Aug. 23 – 24, at Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s lakefront. Both days, with unique collections, are open to the public. Events include:
- Club Saturday At The M, Aug. 23 – A gathering of individuals and local and regional car club members who display their favored two- and four-wheeled vehicles. Club Saturday will begin with a Parade of Club Saturday vehicles from the Harley-Davidson Museum to the show grounds on Aug. 23.
- The Style & Speed Social, Aug. 23 – A social event in which The Milwaukee Masterpiece exhibitors, sponsors and guests enjoy an evening of food, beverage and camaraderie in a unique setting.
- The Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d’Elegance, Aug. 24 – More than 250 stunning vehicles selected by the concours committee take over the show grounds to compete for senior awards including Best of Show, Chairman’s Cup and Chief Judge’s Cup as well as first-in-class distinction.

The Milwaukee Masterpiece is organized and operated by The Masterpiece Ltd., a non-profit organization.
