Milwaukee, Wis., (Feb. 17, 2015) — Look for friendly representatives of the Milwaukee Masterpiece at two upcoming events in Milwaukee:
- World of Wheels, Feb. 20 – 22, in the Wisconsin Exposition Center, Wisconsin State Fair Park, West Allis,
- Greater Milwaukee Auto Show, Feb. 21 – March 1 at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, presented by ADAMM, the Automobile Dealers Association of Mega Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Masterpiece display at the World of Wheels will feature a 1963/2012 Ferrari 500 SuperFast Spyder Americano, a stunning homage to the Italian automaker’s craft. Built in Italy over a five-year span 2009-2014, this Ferrari Speciale was designed by Rick Bunkfeldt using an original Ferrari 250 GTE chassis and all original period Ferrari parts. The drive train, suspension, gauges, windshield, door handles – virtually everything on the car is from Ferrari of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s.
“We are grateful to Matt Backhaus of Streetworks for his long-term support of The Milwaukee Masterpiece,” said Mike O’Krongly, a director of The Masterpiece Ltd. “Over the years Streetworks has provided trophies, vehicles and promotion of our event. This year he is providing us space within the Steetworks display at World of Wheels at no cost to the Masterpiece. In addition to the Bunkfeldt Ferrari, our display will include a literature table staffed with our volunteers and a TV monitor which will display images of the 2014 Masterpiece.” Streetworks, located in Waukesha, Wis., is a hot rod, performance and restoration shop.
The Milwaukee Masterpiece display at the Greater Milwaukee Auto Show will include unique and beautiful cars that will complement the event’s Springtime in Paris theme with six examples produced by French coachbuilders:
- 1973 Citroen SM Coupe (right)
- 1938 Bugatti Type 57 Ventoux Coupe
- 1937 Peugeot Cabriolet by Pourtout
- a Reyonnah, Avolette and P. Vallee Chantecler, all microcars from the 1950s
“The six cars at the Auto Show represent just a small taste of the vast array of the 600 vehicles that will appear at The Milwaukee Masterpiece over the Masterpiece weekend, Aug. 22 and 23, 2015,” said Leon Flagg, chairman – The Masterpiece Ltd. “Club Saturday At The M will present upwards of 400 collector cars owned by collectors and enthusiasts of all walks of life while Sunday’s Concours presents specially selected rare automotive treasures gathered from around the world in a competition of condition and historic significance. Classics, Shelby 350GTs, Ferrari, muscle cars, race cars and sports cars – there’s something for everyone at The Milwaukee Masterpiece.
“We appreciate the opportunity to be included in both of these events. Special thanks to Streetworks for including the Masterpiece in the World of Wheels lineup and to ADAMM for inclusion in Greater Milwaukee’s remarkable auto show,” said Flagg.
Representatives of the Masterpiece will be on hand at both events to provide information about the Milwaukee Masterpiece weekend of events which include Club Saturday at the M, a casual, fun car show open to anyone who wishes to display a car, truck or motorcycle; the Style & Speed Social, an elegant evening of food, beverages and camaraderie on the eve of the Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d’ Elegance, and finally, Sunday’s Masterpiece, a Concours d’ Elegance in the tradition of the world’s greatest competitions. The Sunday Concours will feature hand-selected vehicles which will be scrutinized by judges for the show’s prestigious awards.
The Milwaukee Masterpiece is in its 11th year. Veterans Park, at Milwaukee’s lakefront, is the site for the Saturday car show and Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance. Advance ticket sales will be available online in spring.
