Milwaukee, Wis. – July 12, 2018 — For the third consecutive year, youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee will review the show field at the Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance, Aug. 5, 2018, to select their favorite vehicle from among the classic, vintage and antique cars that have been invited to participate by the event’s Concours committee.
Using forms and an evaluation process outlined by Hagerty, the young judges will be escorted onto the show field by Paul Westphal, director-The Masterpiece Ltd.
“This event is always one of the highlights of the Milwaukee Concours as we hope to spark an interest in the car-collecting hobby in these youth,” Westphal said.
“Our kids learn so much from this event and enjoy spending time with car owners and organizers of the Milwaukee Concours d’ Elegance,” said Vincent Lyles, president and CEO–Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.
In addition to interacting with car owners, the youth will meet Celebrity Judge Donald Osborne and Chief Judge Colin Comer as they check out the cars on the show field. “Donald is one of the most engaging and knowledgeable experts in the classic and vintage car world. I am confident the youth will enjoy meeting him and learning from him. Likewise, Colin is one of the foremost authorities in the hobby and Contributing Editor for Road & Track magazine.
“Our thanks to Hagerty for their sponsorship and for providing an effective process to guide the youth in making their award selection,” Westphal said.
In 2016, the youth selected a 1958 Dodge Custom Royal convertible owned by Larry and Bonnie Swedal, Elk River, Minn. In 2017, a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Roadster, owned by Hank Bernbaum, Lake Forest, Ill., caught their eye.
